Thanks for your response, Erin. But you’re missing my point completely: I’m not at all interested in “reforming” the Democratic Party. To the extent that it can be “reformed,” great. However, I wouldn’t waste your time trying to do so. Meanwhile, I suggest working with organizations that are attempting to develop true alternatives to the Dems and/or the NGO-industrial complex.
What’s currently happening under Trump is nothing new: people are frantically protesting during Bush, with little success. The same is true today. The ongoing protests and actions have done very little to slow Trump’s agenda.
As far as “lazy journalism” is concerned, my job isn’t to spoon-feed people information. Yes, get on Google and do your own research. My primary goal is to get people to think critically, not to explain everything to them.
For instance, the other day I posted a status to Facebook that read, “Breaking News: Pentagon to suggest convention ground troops be deployed to Syria.” You know what the first comment read? “How about a source?” In the time it took that person to write their comment, they could’ve easily went on Google and found the source for themselves.
The same is true of your comment: in the time it took you to write that last paragraph, you could’ve pulled up a half dozen articles on corruption in Lake county.
It’s up to you to do some of the work.
